Drive towards Whangarei Heads until McLeods Bay Store, drive 1.5kms further, then on the right is McDonald Road, (about 34km from Whangarei). The camp is through the gates at the end of McDonald Rd (google map here).
It has its own safe harbour beach, with Ocean Beach 10 mins away by car.
ACCOMMODATION
Accomodation consists of the following buildings which may be rented individually:
- COTTRELL HALL- Large hall/dining area. Sleeps up to 65 people in bunks in 7 separate rooms. There is a large kitchen with catering equipment and walk-in fridge available for use, and two separate bathroom facilities in this building.
- JENSEN HOUSE - This building sleeps up to 20 people and contains its own small kitchen with fridge, freezer, 2 toilets and 1 shower.
- SHERBURD & LITHERLAND LODGES- each contain 3 rooms that can sleep up to 10 people; a kitchenette with stove, fridge, sink bench with hot water provided by a zip heater. Toilet facilities are separate.
NUMBER PERMITTED IN CAMP:
110 people.
GAS BBQ:
There is a BBQ at the camp with a universal connection. Please supply your own gas bottle.
CHARGES:
Contact (09) 4383948 for the current charges. A deposit will be required when you make a booking, which will be deducted from your account if everything is left in good order. The deposit will be retained if your camp is cancelled within the 4 weeks prior to your booking.
